Because it is possible

That is often the answer when I ask, “Why do you want to build AI into your HR systems?”

Digital Transformation often suffers from “Possible vs. Should.” Just because something is possible does not mean it is necessary or valuable.

Digital Transformation and HR system implementation programs often don’t deliver the original big promise due to Feature Creep and the Complexity Trap.

60 second check if you need that new feature
60 second check if you need that new feature

Before adding any new feature, run this 60-second check

1️⃣ Does this fit our current stage?

Are we stabilizing, optimizing, or innovating? A great tool at the wrong time can hurt adoption.

2️⃣ Will this reduce or increase complexity?

More clicks, more logins, more vendors? If it doesn’t simplify work, it’s not progress.

3️⃣ What will it really cost?

Think beyond the license fee. Consider retraining, lost focus, and productivity dips — what’s the recovery time?

4️⃣ If we say yes, what are we saying no to?

Every roadmap has limits. Adding one thing means delaying another.

Strong transformation is not about adding more. It’s about choosing carefully.

The power of a clean “yes” or “no” in business

  • Stakeholder: “Can we add this video interview integration? It’s the latest trend.”

  • Response: “We are not adding this to the roadmap at this stage because our priority is stabilizing user login. We can revisit it in Q4 once our core functions are working. In the meantime, please prepare a clear business case outlining the expected value of adding it later.”

Decide on a new feature or AI only if it solves a clear business problem, delivers measurable value, fits your current maturity level, and justifies the added complexity and opportunity cost.
